April 21, 2017 - Walt Disney Concert Hall
The Los Angeles Master Chorale has proudly presented its annual High School Choir Festival for more than 25 years. In 1989 we began the great tradition of offering students a chance to deepen their exposure and understanding of the choral art through a year-long experience leading up to the celebratory Festival Day. We partner with selected high Schools for a year of fun and memorable Musical experiences as Choir students work collaboratively with their peers from around the Southland.
The 2017 Festival culminated in a monumental performance at the awe-inspiring Walt Disney Concert Hall. Choir students from 29 Schools joined together to sing as a massive ensemble, experiencing the power of choral Music under the direction of Grant Gershon, Artistic Director of the Los Angeles Master Chorale. less

The singers are all volunteers, range in age from teenagers to retirees and travel from five different counties throughout Middle Tennessee to be a part of the chorus.

As a result of the love they had for Choir Music, they felt a need for a School Choir to be established. From the first year of its existence, Choir was trained and prepared for the Schools’ eisteddfods by two fellow students. In 1998, they both matriculated.
In the following year these students continued with the Choir training and were compensated for their services by the School Governing Body (SGB). In 2001 they were snatched by nearby Schools that were willing to pay them better wages and the SGB had to look for other people who could assist with Choir training from the community. This continued until 2004, when the School employed a teacher who studied Music at university.
In 2009 another teacher, who studied Music too, came and volunteered his services at the School. In 2010 the teacher was employed on a temporary basis by the Department of... less
