Directed for more than ten years by Michael Bawtree, its repertoire spans the Renaissance to the pres...  moreWith a current membership of around 30 Singers, Glasgow Chamber choir was founded in 1994 and has developed into one of Scotland’s finest amateur choirs. Directed for more than ten years by Michael Bawtree, its repertoire spans the Renaissance to the present day and has included the Scottish premieres of works by James Whitbourn, Hans Gál, Jan Dismas Zelenka, Richard Bush and Judith Bingham. The choir performs regularly in Glasgow and central Scotland, and has toured to France, Holland and Sweden, where it has formed links with other choirs. Recent BBC radio engagements have included William Walton’s Henry V Suite with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Sunday Worship live and Bryan Burnett’s ‘Get it On’ show live on BBC Radio Scotland. The choir features regularly in Raymond Gubbay’s Christmas Festival in the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall.  less

The choir was founded by composer, Franco Prinsloo, with a focus on quality recordings and performances of his own music, as well as a selection of music by other Pretoria based composers. He also conducts the choir. They have recorded two collections of music by composers: Franco Prinsloo, Zander Fick and Pieter Bezuidenhout, “South African Choral Music Collection Vol. 1 and Vol. 2”. The latest album released in 2019 is "Speak to me", available on streaming platforms world wide. In 2019 a new recording will be released: “Naledi - An African Journey” featuring music of the choral musical with the same name. The group named DEKOR Chamber Choir is composed of experienced choral Singers from various parts of Slovenia, who in the past used to sing in renowned Slovene and some foreign vocal ensembles. Driven by the desire of thorough preparation of quality choral projects, the choir works under the leadership of Slovene and foreign guest conductors. The choir prepared their inaugural concert, entitled In the Beginning, in cooperation with young Finnish conductor Dani Juris The topic of creation coincided not only with the central composition of the concert, Copland’s In the Beginning, but also with the choir’s first public appearance and presentation of the concept of their work. Among the carefully selected works by Slovene and other authors, three were performed in Slovenia for the first time: Aaron Copland’s In the Beginning, Cyrillus Kreek’s Onnis on inimene (Blessed be the Man) and Ole Gjeilo’s Unicornis captivatur (Captured Unicorn).
