Cantorion was founded by Colin Jones in 1992 when he invited singers, who he knew and had taught and conducted previously in other choirs across North Wales, to join his new chorus. Since Colin and John Daniel's retirement, Aled Wyn Edwards has been able to match their skills in voice production and choral management with the enthusiasm and commitment of some of North Wales finest male choral singers and soloists and during the last 12 months has established a male chorus with a special Sound and quality now recognised after its numerous tours and performances in many countries, worldwide.  less

ReHearsals are every Wednesday at 7.30pm at Priory Hall, Christchurch and the choir perform regularly all over the South Coast. South Salem High School's Symphonic Choir preforming at the Oregon 6A choir championships. the fabulous amazing spectacular Carol Stenson is their long standing director. South Salem took FIRST PLACE at Oregon's State Competition. This was their second song of four. This whole competition took place at George Fox University in Newburg Oregon. the South Salem Saxons also took first at their Districts festival in Salem/Keizer Oregon. Chris has written many of Show Of Hands’ big hits including, ‘Lily and the Rose’ which he wrote for Miranda Sykes and the Lost Sound. We’ve performed this together with Show Of Hands, at their 25thAnniversary concert in the Royal Albert Hall in 2017. Chris explains the background of ‘Though We Lie Underground’ for us: I first came across the stories surrounding the curious tradition of West Country miners singing carols underground when listening to a recording of Alan Lomax’s extraordinary live BBC 1957 broadcast “Sing Christmas and the Turn of the Year”, a feat of radio genius involving hundreds of performers and groups all over the country, seamlessly brought together for one scintillating hour.
