Cirencester Male Voice Choir is a well-regarded male voice choir based in the historic market town in Gloucestershire. Known for its rich Choral tradition, the choir has become part of the local community and the broader Choral music scene.

The text for this work is a secular meditation on the rocks and the waves written by the composer during a weekend stay there in 1978. The choir was established in 1996 (originally in the Lehava High School for Girls) by singer/Choral conductor Nomi Teplow with the goal of bringing together girls with Musical ability to work on a highly professional level and produce a wide variety of vocal music. The choir is comprised of 25-30 girls from areas throughout Samaria ranging in age from 13-18 years. The Shir-El choir performs in concerts and at vocal conventions across the country bringing fine singing, rich harmonies and words of hope, faith and love of Israel to a broad range of audiences. The Shir E-l Choir has won first place several times in the national Choral competition for high school choirs sponsored by the Israel Ministry of Education.
