Executing this MUSIC with "sensitivity and style" (Early MUSIC America), Schola Antiqua takes pride in providing the HIGHest standards of research, performance, and education involving many under-served repertories in the western MUSICal canon. Founded in 2000, the organization has received invitations to perform from the Indianapolis Early MUSIC Festival, Chicago’s Newberry Library, the Chicago Cultural Center, the University of Chicago, the University of Notre Dame, the American Guild of Organists, and numerous locations across the Midwest. In 2006-2007, Schola Antiqua was Ensemble-in-Residence at the University of Chicago and currents holds an artistic residency at the Lumen Christi Institute. The choir performs concerts each semester and also sings at Remembrance Day ceremonies, convocation ceremonie...  moreThe SFU Choir rehearses at Simon Fraser University's Burnaby campus (even though ANYONE willing to come up the mountain every week can join). The choir performs concerts each semester and also sings at Remembrance Day ceremonies, convocation ceremonies, and other events on campus and in the community. We are a volunteer, non-auditioned group open to all, but choir members are expected to regularly attend rehearsals and the semester retreat, and to practice their parts on their own time. We usually put up practice files under “Resources” (members-only access) so that you can download your part and listen to it on whatever portable MUSIC-playing device you own. No MUSICal experience is needed, but the ability to read MUSIC is an asset (if you can't read MUSIC, we'll help you learn).  less
