What are rehearsals for exactly?
[this is a version of a post which first appeared on my blog From the Front of the Choir]
There’s a strange thing that happens in Choirs just as a concert is coming up. Everything that can go wrong does go wrong.

Yet our passion of singing joins us every week to rehears interesting and rarely performed music. With passion and great ambition, music and literature from all over the world comes sensually alive. The focus of our music is located in the Baltic region. of course! Our cherished and beloved conductor Arūnas Pečiulis is from Lithuania.
In 2016 we released our first own CD "Christmas in Orange" with traditional and extraordinary Christmas songs from all over the world. We are also represented with a total of three pieces on the CDs „Salzburg singt 2 - Advent" and „Salzburg singt 3 - Adventkalender" of the Salzburg Choir Association.
In 2017 we made our first big trip abroad to Lithuania and Latvia, in 2018 we were one of only two „non-Lithuanian“ Choirs to take part in the Lithuanian song festival „Dainų šventė“ in Vilnius.

Weekly sessions, under the instruction of a highly enthusiastic and experienced Natural Voice Practitioner and registered British Voice Association teacher, will provide opportunities for you to sing in harmony, discover new techniques and to improve your musicality, understanding and appreciation of music. With your newly found confidence you will tackle more complicated and challenging musical arrangements and enjoy hearing the finished result – just for pleasure!
Whilst we “work” hard these sessions are enjoyable social events. There is discipline and structure but also fun, laughter and a strong sense of teamwork as we rehearse songs from a variety of genres, performing new musical arrangements to suit a variety of tastes. No previous experience is required but enthusiasm is a must.

Using reductive metaphors won't solve your Choirs problems
One of my favorite Choir tricks was to telling my singers to ‘aim for the top side of the pitch.’ This was, of course, because they were singing flat, and I thought the imagery would give my singers a way of thinking about an abstract co...

As a result of the love they had for Choir music, they felt a need for a school Choir to be established. From the first year of its existence, Choir was trained and prepared for the schools’ eisteddfods by two fellow students. In 1998, they both matriculated.
In the following year these students continued with the Choir training and were compensated for their services by the School Governing Body (SGB). In 2001 they were snatched by nearby schools that were willing to pay them better wages and the SGB had to look for other people who could assist with Choir training from the community. This continued until 2004, when the school employed a teacher who studied music at university.
In 2009 another teacher, who studied music too, came and volunteered his services at the school. In 2010 the teacher was employed on a temporary basis by the Department of... less
