The choristers looked at the formation of the choir as further development to their shared roots from Singing with the Limburg Cathedral Boys Choir. They also looked to continue the tradition of successful male chamber choirs founded by former members of Limburg Cathedral Boys Choir, which is unique in Germany. The ensemble has committed itself to presenting the audience with unfamiliar male choir works of the highest level, but without neglecting the traditional canon of compositions, which makes for a exceptional combination. The repertoire includes a range of the following: Gregorian chants, works of old masters, romantic motets, contemporary compositions, arrangements of jazz and pop songs. It's of course a wink to my favorite musical movie - I must have watched it at least a dozen times. It keeps inspiring my love for Singing. We mostly sing musical songs, but not exclusively. We are dedicated to making this a great amateur choir. But, as Mary Poppins sang: 'In every job that must be done / there is an element of fun / You find the fun / and SNAP the job's a game'

Director of Choral Activities Stephen Gothold, himself an alumnus, organized the recruiting efforts and the Chorale made its debut performance on Saturday, December 4, 1982 at the Whittier Presbyterian Church - a complete performance of Handel’s Messiah. Since then, the Chorale has sung over one hundred thirty concert programs in the Southern California area. The Chorale performed in Japan in 1994 and at the Hollywood Bowl in 1995 as it joined together with 1,000 singers from America and Japan to sing Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. In 2001, members of the Chorale -- along with Whittier College students, alumni, and members of the Imperial Valley Choral Society -- toured Eastern Europe and performed selections of American hymns, spirituals, and sacred songs.
