Starting in 2013, this group seeks to foster personal growth of students in 5th through 8th grade by providing opportunities to sing in a variety of environments. We strive to encourage a high level of self-worth, positive self-esteem, and accomplishment. Our goal is to use music as the avenue to encourage students to become lifelong patrons of the arts. Join us as we journey together to promote a continued love for the the arts in the White House community.  less

“the Wind” was commissioned by the Organization of American Kodály Educators as a result of Rich Campbell winning the Ruth Boshkoff Composition Prize. the text is from Robert Louis Stevenson’s 1885 A Child’s Garden of Verses. the choir begins by emulating...  more“the Wind” was commissioned by the Organization of American Kodály Educators as a result of Rich Campbell winning the Ruth Boshkoff Composition Prize. the text is from Robert Louis Stevenson’s 1885 A Child’s Garden of Verses. the choir begins by emulating the sound of the wind, and then sings directly to the wind, describing the many things the wind does while questioning just who or what the wind is. the piece, inspired by Kodály’s philosophy, develops a folk-like melody in a modern context. the rhythmic piano accompaniment keeps the piece bouncing brightly until its exciting conclusion. Celebrating world music and arts Promoting multi-cultural awareness Supporting Children's health and education projects in the Gambia, West Africa As well as hosting an annual World Musicand Arts Festival and the choir we also run a weekly West African Drumming workshop. Both groups enjoy performing at our own and other local community events and festivals.
