This performance, however was part of the memorial service in St Martin in the Fields, for Ruth Rudge, who was a very distinguished and lovely lady, and also my first boss. The ladies of the Occasional Choir, whose beginnings were as the Madrigal Choir at West Heath, which I co-founded, all those years ago, are the singers, including one of the six that took part in the very first performance. I am conducting, and Penny Walker, who now directs the choir is accompanying. Unfortunately less than half the singers are visible in the video. less

selected through a voice placement process and performs traditional/advanced choral literature from all periods. Students
who have been active in choral ensembles in HIGH school or college are encouraged to audition for this choir. Auditions for
Chorale can take place at anytime to fill necessary spots in the group. Once students are selected for Chorale, they are

Vokalensemble d'accord

It was Mr. Bonnie Fonseka, a distinguished Old Boy, who's vision soon came to be a Benedictine tradition, by forming a MUSICal club. This prompted the birth of the first College Choir. The Choir acquired a reputation for top class singing and in addition often invited to perform at important national events such as to perform with other schools when princess Elizabeth visited Ceylon in 1952.
Since Mr. Bonnie Fonseka’s retirement there were many dedicated young MUSICians who undertook the responsibility and uphill task of training the Choir. Some of them were Mr. Robert Joseph, Mr. Francis De Almeida, Mr. Nicholas Johnpulle, Rev Bro. Augustine and Mr. Ravein George.
Mr. Ravein George revived the Choir in 1996 and guided them to reach the height of success as being cited as a Classical Choir. The Choir won the all island singing competition in the year 1999. The Choir of recent times is being Directed by a student of Ravien George and current... less

We are a mixed-voice choir of around 30 singers, performing a wide variety of secular and sacred "classical"; choral MUSIC. We mainly sing a cappella, and tend to focus on lesser-known older works, and modern repertoire, often from living composers. However, this is by no means exclusive!
The choir sings three main concerts per year, with a charity carol concert just before Christmas. We are also a sociable bunch, with regular social events and a number of 'spin-off' groups. less

[this is an updated version of a post which first appeared on my blog From the Front of the Choir]
MUSIC and singing are auditory experiences. We don’t need to see the MUSICians or singers to appreciate their MUSIC. So why bother going...
