Conductor: Terence Maskell Soloists: Jayne Tankersley (soprano), Dean Sky-Lucas (countertenor), David Hamilton (tenor), Chalium Poppy (bass) --- This performance by The Graduate Choir NZ exploits with delight the wonderful collaboration with NZ Barok who provide the gamut of instrumental colour using original instruments (or modern copies of originals) and with specialist players from Auckland, Wellington, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth. This performance is further enhanced by the use of "Baroque pitch" - the nearest equivalent to the pitch used in Germany at the start of the 18th century where A = 415, a semitone lower than our modern pitch. In keeping with these stylistic demands, the size of the choir is reduced to 3-5 voices per part. It was founded more than 30 years ago with David Wordsworth as its Musical Director from 1995 to 2023. Our current classical Musical Director is Matthew Thomas Morgan, and our current jazz Musical Director is Jill Jarman. The group comprises two classical choirs – an auditioned Chamber Choir and a much larger non-auditioned Oratorio Choir; and two jazz choirs – an auditioned mixed Jazz Ensemble and a larger non-auditioned all-female Jazz Choir. It also offers two different singing classes to meet the needs of beginners, intermediate and the more experienced singer. The Addison Singers normally operate on three 10-week terms (the same as the schools) with a concert or recital at the end of each term.
