Udiana is unusual on the Israeli scene, has appeared on some of the best stages in the country, and is praised highly by the audiences. ...  more About the Choir The Udiana Choir (formerly, Kolot Hasadeh) was founded by Anat Aharoni at Kibbutz Harduf in 2004. Udiana is unusual on the Israeli scene, has appeared on some of the best stages in the country, and is praised highly by the audiences. The choir sings mainly a capella, with an emphasis on current music, and integrates improvisation, drumming, and movement. Udiana has been supported by the Ministry for Culture and Sport since 2012. We aim to express processes in human development, so we build our programs around subjects that we research from different angles, including “Prayer”, “Song of the Earth”, “Peace”, and “Water”. In 2016 we created a program called “Silence” in collaboration with the Israeli Brass Quintet. In 2017 the subject was “My Soul Returns to the Fire”, where we explored the quality of fire in our lives. We have been invited by Ely Cathedral in Cambridgeshire, UK, to sing as "choir in residence" for a week in July 2014, taking over their choir's duties of singing 8 services that week. We are the only Hawai'i choir to belong to the Royal School of Church Music, and we use their adjudication standards to award medals which are internationally recognized by the RSCM. We sing sacred music in English, Latin, and Hawaiian. We are always looking for new choristers. Auditions are year-around, although placement occurs only in fall semester and spring semester.
