MBS is an active mens chorus and during our shows we like to combine quality and pleasure while performing. Our show should not only be a joy to your ears but it should also be a joy to your eyes ! That’s why we are rehearsing very hard every thursday night.

This is thanks to the work of Knut Nystedt (b....  moreThroughout its existence the Chamber choir Schola Cantorum has had high ambitions. The choir has built an international reputation and has made it a trademark to include newly written music in its programmes. This is thanks to the work of Knut Nystedt (b. 1915), organist, composer and conductor, who returned to Norway in 1964 after studying in the USA and started a choir at the music department of the University of Oslo. The choir continues to recruit members from the department of music, as well as from the Norwegian Academy of Music in more recent years. The American choral tradition in which Nystedt was trained emphasises the importance of new music – a practice Nystedt brought back with him to Oslo. Knut Nystedt’s music became a vital element of Schola Cantorum’s repertoire. Tone Bianca Sparre Dahl became conductor in 2002, and has further established the choir’s firm position in Norway’s musical life. She has continued Nystedt’s tradition of performing modern music. Since 2009 and thanks to his founder, Oscar Allen, the Choral Project has been working with young Singers and developing young voices to excell in the interpretation and enjoyment of choral music and group singing. Due to an intensive and hard work, its members receive a full choral and scenic education, structured in the vocal individual technique and its different types of sound emission; on the development of corporal skills expression, and in the grupal practice of the choral exercise. This education is complemented by the permanent contact with other artistic disciplines as ballet and theatre are.
