The Concert Choir gives a number of performances in...  moreThe California State University, Fullerton Concert Choir, directed by Christopher Peterson, is a 74-voice auditioned, mixed ensemble comprised primarily of students studying voice in the School of Music. The Concert Choir gives a number of performances in Southern California every year, and has also toured in Canada, Hawaii, Europe, and the United States. The Concert Choir performs a variety of accompanied and unaccompanied repertoire, and collaborates annually with the CSUF University Singers to present performances of choral-orchestral masterworks. They have joined the University Singers in performances with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra and the Pacific Symphony Orchestra. For the past four years they have represented CSUF at the Pacific Southwest Intercollegiate Choral Association Festival of Choirs. Some have been here since the beginning, some joined this year and others fit somewhere in the Middle. We have an exacting standard of singing - we are just not sure what that exactly is! One of the most important facets of Mood Swing is that we have fun with what we do and it comes across not only in our singing, but also in our performances. We may not have perfected laughing and singing at the same time, but we give it a fair go! Since 2001, Mood Swing have been wowing audiences with our full sounds and suave choreography. With a range of music from '20s swing, African songs, traditional gospel, contemporary hits and fun ditties arranged in three and four parts, Mood Swing have something for all ages. Fabulously led by Lisa Schwabe, Mood Swing have been singing around Melbourne at concerts, churches and private functions to the delight of all who see and hear us. Bray Choral Society is a successful choir performing a wide range of choral works including major works by Handel, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Vivaldi, Mendelssohn and Rossini, along with short concerts and recitals including Byrd, Bach, Elgar, Stanford an...  moreBray Choral Society is a successful choir performing a wide range of choral works including major works by Handel, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Vivaldi, Mendelssohn and Rossini, along with short concerts and recitals including Byrd, Bach, Elgar, Stanford and also works by composers of the 20th and 21st centurys such as Orff, Rutter, Bodley, De Barra, Jenkins, Goodall, Whitacre, Gjeilo and Blackford. We have taken part in many choral competitions around Ireland with Success in New Ross, Arklow, Navan, Sligo and Cork. In 2013 we joined Wide Open Music in a performance of Beethoven's 9th Symphony, which was received with great enthusiasm. In the same year we also joined Opera Theatre Company for two performances in their tour to promote young Irish soloists. In recognition of the millennium year and augmented by local choirs from around the country, we performed the Verdi Requiem to great acclaim in both Bray and Arklow. We live in the Isle of Man, a small island with a population of about 80,000 situated in the Irish Sea, between England, Wales, Ireland and Scotland. It is a Crown Dependency which means it is a self governing possession of the British Crown. We are very proud of our parliament, Tynwald which claims to be the world's oldest parliament in continuous existence, dating back to 979. We also issue our own bank notes, coins and stamps and enjoy a unique perspective in terms of our language, (Manx Gaelic), history, music and art. It is a beautiful island with very varied scenery. From its beginning it has been affiliated with ZAMEK Culture Centre. Experienced and respected pedagogues-musicians look after the musical development of the girls and artistic program. The Choir is conducted and creatively inspired by its Artistic Director and Conductor Alicja Szeluga, an educator and choral music aficionado. The Vocal Coach Marzena Michałowska, and accompanying pianist Czesław Łynsza, as well as percussionist Beata Polak complete the musical team. The SKOWRONKI Girls Choir also has programs for younger groups. The ensemble is consists of 140 girls aged between 6 and 22. The singers of the choir are secondary school students as well as students from universities of Poznań. The group’s repertoire rediscovers and promotes works of various composers from different periods as well as performs pieces commissioned especially for the choir. As a nationally selected choir of the Highest calibre, Voices is a chamber choir that is flexible in size, and capable of performing a wide repertoire. Many of the singers are alumni of the New Zealand Youth Choir.

This performance, however was part of the me...  moreI wrote this in 1976 for the six singing students of Pat Scanlon, a colleague of mine at West Heath School, who died from complications of Hodgkins Lymphoma. The first performance was at her memorial service. This performance, however was part of the memorial service in St Martin in the Fields, for Ruth Rudge, who was a very distinguished and lovely lady, and also my first boss. The ladies of the Occasional Choir, whose beginnings were as the Madrigal Choir at West Heath, which I co-founded, all those years ago, are the singers, including one of the six that took part in the very first performance. I am conducting, and Penny Walker, who now directs the choir is accompanying. Unfortunately less than half the singers are visible in the video.  less
