However, it also sings with instrumental accompaniment. The choir has pieces from different ages, languages and styles in its repertoire. It gives both Turkey and world premieres of songs. It premiered the CONcerto Romeo and Juliet, composed by the CONductor Agosyan last year. The present church choir, one of the finest choirs of it’s type in the UK, is an excellent mixed-voice choir with about 30 members who are currently brought up to music by Stephen Dagg, Director of Music (also Director of the Centre for Young Musicians, a...  moreThe present church choir, one of the finest choirs of it’s type in the UK, is an excellent mixed-voice choir with about 30 members who are currently brought up to music by Stephen Dagg, Director of Music (also Director of the Centre for Young Musicians, a division of the Guildhall School, and the London Schools Symphony Orchestra). The choir’s repertoire of sacred music ranges from the 16th to the 21st centuries, including a recently commissioned and premièred work by Roxanna Panufnik. The choir sings to a cathedral standard every week at the Sung Eucharist on Sunday and Choral evensong every fourth Sunday. It also sings at special services during the year and goes on tour each summer. Recent tours have been to Bordeaux (2014). Dordodgne/Aquitaine (2013), and Rome (2011, 2012).  less

We Annually we perform two large CONcerts with professional soloists and orchestral musicians in Carlow, ‘Glory of Christmas’ in the National CONcert Hall and annual ‘Christmas Crackers’ family CONcert in the George Bernard Shaw Theatre, Carlow. We have a remarkable repertoire of many choral works such as Handel’s Messiah, Bach’s St. Mathews & St. John Passion, Verdi’s Requiem, Haydn’s The Creation & Seasons, Brahm’s Requiem & many more.
