We last performed this piece in October 2020 at a concert that took place between two national lockdowns, when it felt especially poignant. The group performs repertoire that expresses a uniquely feminine spirit, especially works that promote the best interests of women in society. Vox Grata sings concert programs that directly benefit the needs of women in the Nashville community. The singers also enjoy the opportunity to mentor exceptional high school and college-aged women who participate in the Choir as part of its choral scholar program.  less

Today it comprises 23 selected singers, Cantilena meaning "lightweight song", deriving from the Latin word for "song" or "melody". Whenever possible, during concerts the members of the Choir wear a pearl necklace to represent the significance of the activities pursued: each member of the Choir is represented by one of the pearls, with the strand linking them all being the Music - the main purpose of so much hard work to achieve artistic quality. As well as being an extremely feminine accessory, it also illustrates the quality, refinement, finish and Musical beauty that the Academia Concerto pursues.
