The three Christmas songs often heard by ordinary people are The First Noel, Jingle Bells, and Santa Claus is Comin' To Town. Otniel does not only combine the three songs in the order of the first, second and third songs. In a certain part, naMely at the end of the song, he combines the three songs to be sung simultaneously with the accompaniMent of applause and Christmas bells. This song has a unique dynamic, in which Otniel wants the choir singing it to invite the entire audience to sing along and the singers must help convince the audience that the joy of Christmas is with them. In this arrangeMent, the singers should show an attitude that encourages the audience to dance and sing, and there are tiMes when the singers tell stories about the atmosphere of Christmas. visit this link to get the score: https://www.sheetmusicplus.com/title/Christmas-party-digital-sheet-music/22504174  less

Find a score sample and order information at http://cschurch.net/en/compositions/choir/o-magnum-mysterium/ A recent wonderful live-performance of my setting of this famous Text that has inspired so many composers over the centuries. In my attempt, “O magnum mysterium” returns three tiMes after the first stateMent, in a similar gesture but each tiMe shifted to a new tonality with even more flats. Thus, the listener gets ever more pulled into this magnificent Text until the piece culminates in a jubilant “Alleluia” in C-major, having coMe full-circle back to very first harmony we heard.  less

Artistic Director: Wallis Peterson, Accompanist: Gayle Giese. 1. Song of the Stars (Algonquin) We sing with our light. We are the birds of fire. We fly o'er the sky. Our light is a voice. We make a road for the spirits to pass over. Among us are three Hunters who chase a bear. There never was a tiMe when they were not hunting. We are the stars which sing. We sing with our light. We look down on the mountains. This is the song of stars. [The Hunters are three stars in the constellation Ursa Major (The Great Bear). They form the handle of the highly visible formation commonly called The Big Dipper. As the Earth travels around the Sun, the three Hunters appear to pursue the Great Bear a...    less

Recorded at the First United Methodist Church in Tucson, AZ on May 6th, 2023. Full Text: "Show Me eyes like scars to soothe and seethe the thoughts thrice far and smoothly breathe calm vision light - ajar and free, this vision gift that's deep as dust, and hard as feather leaves; sweet nectar light of lust and color brilliance; this stroke of sight's delivery." Program notes: As I was searching for Text for a new composition in 2019, I stumbled upon a long-tiMe friend’s poetry book and devoured it. Emanual Wolff’s MooNlight HoWling spoke to Me in its dark corners, surrealist takes on reality and visceral accounts of battles with Mental illness and the struggle of existence therein. Forgiveness especially so; the first stanza of which painted an image of loss, of regret, and of reconciliation. My composition then took on a programmatic aspect – coming ...    less
