Please SHARE! Help us get the word out how important it is to sign up to be a donor. 50 Cantores Celestes members sang on Sat Nov 23rd for their friend and chorister sister, Monica Parfitt who has been at the Toronto General Hospital for 6 months awaiting for a heart donation. We sang for her and her family on Sat morning so she could be surrounded by our love and the music she loves. This audio was taken from a simple iphone but the message comes through none the less. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Monica is very special.  less

From the beginning our intention was to establish a dialog between ancient vocal music from the Renaissance and Baroque periods and contemporary music from the 20th and 21st centuries. As the vocal requirements of this aim are very important, we pay special attention to the musical and technical preparation of our programmes, in order to provide high quality performances. Our repertory includes ancient and contemporary music and works from composers such as Claudio Monteverdi, William Byrd, Heinrich Schütz, Tomás Luis de Victoria, Thomas Tallis, Vicente Goicoechea, Darius Milhaud, Francis Poulenc, Vytautas Miskinis, Zoltán Kodaly, Samuel Barber, Benjamin Britten, Astor Piazzolla and Marcos Leite. In Hora Sexta has regularly taken part in the musical series of concerts organized by Madrid town council and other Spanish institutions since 2003. This five-voice setting uses poignant word-painting to bring the "sorrow of sorrows" from the Book of Lamentations to life. It remains one of the most intimate and emotionally raw works in the sacred choral repertoire.

At the beginning, PSM-ITB sang only in campus society and subs...  moreOn February 11th 1962, few ITB students established Paduan Suara Mahasiswa Institut Teknologi Bandung (PSM-ITB or ITB Student Choir) which was the first university-based choir in Indonesia. At the beginning, PSM-ITB sang only in campus society and subsequently performed in public. However since 1973, it participated in various national choir competitions and repeatedly won the first prizes. This led PSM-ITB to become one of the most established choirs in Indonesia. In several occasions, the choir has been given the chance to perform in events attended by the President of Indonesia. It regularly performs in concerts, occasionally collaborated with other choirs and orchestras. In 1968 PSM-ITB organized the 1st ITB Choir Festival (FPS-ITB). Since then the festival is held biannually and becomes the largest national choir event in term of categories (from children to adult and folklore catagories) and participants.
