The Aim of the Choir is to appeal to everyone! You’ll have the opportunity to sing some great songs, perform in public, find and improve your voice and spend a couple of hours each week getting that feel-good factor. Switch off from the stresses of life for a couple of hours. Firm and lasting friendships are formed. People look out for each other, support each other, laugh with each other and feel fantastic when they sing together. It doesn’t matter whether or not you read music! Come and join us.  less

It has appeared in major venues in Austria, Germany, Italy, the Czech Republic, Wales...  moreThe Drake Choir is Drake University’s select touring ensemble, performing regionally on an annual basis and internationally every four years, most recently in May 2012. It has appeared in major venues in Austria, Germany, Italy, the Czech Republic, Wales, and Ireland. The ensemble regularly collaborates with the Des Moines Symphony and sang the Beethoven Ninth Symphony with that orchestra in September 2011. The Drake Choir has performed in Carnegie Hall and has been featured on the conference program of the American Choral Directors Association North Central Division. The ensemble consists of 64-70 singers who are first-year students through seniors and who represent every College of the University. Auditions for returning students take place in April and for new students during the weekend preceding the start of the fall semester. The ensemble rehearses Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, 3:30-5:00 p.m. and is conducted by Dr. Aimee Beckmann-Collier, Director of Choral Studies and Professor of Condcuting.  less

We bring you classical repertoires as well as delightful Norwegian folk songs. The Nidaros Cathedral Boys’ Choir has over 900 years of rich history. It’s the main Choir of Nidaros Cathedral which is located in the ancient capital of Trondheim, Norway. It’s also the main Choir of Royal events. The Choir will celebrate its 100 years of modern history in 2027 with a global tour. Current artistic director and conductor, Bjørn Moe - a former soprano in the Choir, successfully reinvented the Choir since joining as conductor in 1973. There are 100 members in the main Choir, 70 sopranos/altos (9-15 years old) and 30 tenors/basses (15-68 years old). In addition, the mini-boys Choir, has 40 boys ages 7-9. Apart from religious repertoire, the Choir also sings Norwegian folk songs as well as songs from different cultures around the world.
