Comprised of professionally trained musicians, Innismara is dedicated to the performance of the intimate and hidden treasures of the vocal ensemble repertoire. Innismara made its debut in the summer of 2010 at Muses and Minstrels: A Festival of Early Performing Arts held in conjunction with the Cupids 400 celebrations. In collaboration with the Hot Earth Ensemble, Innismara performed music from the late Renaissance and early Baroque, highlights of which were recorded for national broadcast on CBC Radio. The success of these performances led to an invitation to participate in a series of workshops and performances in the Labrador Inuit communities of Nunatsiavut in the spring of 2011. The voices of young singers are celebrated and nurtured through a musicianship and vocal training program that includes reading and writing rhythms, interval recognition, diction, tone and vowel formation in a positive and fun choral setting. Serving ages 5–14, the program fosters the pride of accomplishment and joy of participation, producing the next generation of musicians, singers, and music lovers in the community.  less

They soon found a community of singers who are equally passionate about the energy and intimacy of chamber choral music performed at a high caliber. Although we perform throughout Rhode Island and beyond, we are delighted to be ensemble-in-residence at Grace Church Providence, which generously provides rehearsal and performance space, and serves as our fiscal sponsor.  less
