Meistersingers was formed in Orange County, California, in 2000 as a response to a growing demand for quality Choral music performance. Created to be a chamber ensemble specializing in demanding classical Choral works, Meistersingers maintains high standards in literature and chooses outstanding performance venues with beauty and elegance equal to the music.
We are committed to continuing this path and expanding our influence in the music community through different means such as composition competitions and scholarships. Our goal is to ensure the continued growth of the Choral art. less

The aim of the Horizons Project is not simply to stimulate the creation of new South African Choral music; but to stimulate the creation of a new generation of South African Choral composers. There are 2 projects a year, each one focusing on a different genre of Choral compositions.
The Choir consists of 24 hand-picked singers. By inviting specific ‘head-hunted’ singers to join the choir and not just having open public auditions, allows us to hold an extremely high level of musicianship, technical ability and an exclusivity that makes our sound unique. The choir is conducted and directed by Pieter Bezuidenhout

TRUJILLO DEL PERÚ (1782-85) / GU CHOIR
Entering the colonial Spanish-American period, indigenism and slavery raise their voices in the Peruvian Codex of Martinez Compañón (S. XVIII) and in the work of the Spanish Juan de Arañés (S. XVII). The subtle and everyday expressions of the indigenous people, together with those of the Africans, convey their deep desire for freedom. The Bozal Spanish language, as also the themes, texts and rhythm of the works, show the strong syncretism between the Spanish culture and that of the indigenous and African natives.
