Body of a man I bring thee, noble even in its ruin. Once was this a spirit’s dwelling, by the breath of God created. High the heart that here was beating, Christ the prince of all its living. Guard him well, the dead I give thee, not unmindful of his creature shall he ask it: he who made it symbol of his mystery. Comes the hour God hath appointed to fulfil the hope of men, then must thou, in very fashion, what I give, return again. Not though ancient time decaying wear away these bones to sand, ashes that a man might measure in the hollow of his hand: Not though wandering winds and idle, drifting through the empty sky, scatter dust was nerve and sinew, is it given to man to die. Once again the shining...    less

We'll Play Our Part used with permission words and music by Paul Ayres © 2020 www.paulayres.co.uk Kaitlyn Janzen, soprano Tess Johnson, alto Dane Harder, tenor Nathan Bartel, bass Craig McLeish, piano Lyrics: We stay apart and we don't know for how long we have to sing alone But staying strong so more voices can join us in chorus one day soon. Though we're apart from everyone, we are a part of everything, and every day everyone in different ways and places is facing this difficult phase. So don't lose heart, let's make a start, let's make our art. We're here to stay, we're here to say we'll play our part. We stay afar and we can't see the ending; the future's still unknown. We still stay strong separated in space; not in spirit, not in song. Though we're apart from everyone, we are a part of everything, and every day everyone in different ways and places is facing this difficult phase. So don't lose hea...    less

This performance was the last song on the last live broadcast (on March 8, 2020) before the Choir put live performances on hold due to COVID-19. Lyrics: Come, thou Fount of ev'ry blessing, Tune my heart to sing thy grace; Streams of mercy, never ceasing Call for songs of loudest praise. Teach me some melodious sonnet, Sung by flaming tongues above; Praise the mount! I'm fixed upon it, Mount of thy redeeming love. Here I raise my Ebenezer, Hither by thy help I'm come; And I hope, by thy good pleasure, safely to arrive at home. Prone to wander Lord, I feel it, Prone to leave the God I lo...    less

Today it comprises 23 selected singers, Cantilena meaning "lightweight song", deriving from the Latin word for "song" or "melody". Whenever possible, during concerts the members of the Choir wear a pearl necklace to represent the significance of the activities pursued: each member of the Choir is represented by one of the pearls, with the strand linking them all being the music - the main purpose of so much hard work to achieve artistic quality. As well as being an extremely feminine accessory, it also illustrates the quality, refinement, finish and musical beauty that the Academia Concerto pursues. The formation of groups of like voices in Brazil is not very common and, therefore, requires constant research to seek out specialised repertoire, both in Brazil and abroad, making appropriate arrangements or adaptations of pieces for ...    less
