The Choir has built an enviable international reputation through its concerts, broadcasts and more than 50 recordings. Les Chantres Musiciens’ repertoire is both varied and complex, comprising a range of works from the Romantic period (including Mendelssohn, Schubert, Schumann, and Brahms) to Post-Romantic and modern compositions (including, for example, Schafer, Reger, Schönberg, and Langlais). The ensemble has earned a reputation for excellence, confirmed by prizes at national and international competitions, tours, and several distinguished recordings. Their first tour brought them through Germany and France, garnering critical and public acclaim, particularly at the Festival de Musique de Moselle. Using the simple view that a good song is a good song, has meant that they bring together a collection of pieces that appeal to a wide audience. The Choir delights in introducing new songs that are connected by their unique choral sound, rather than from a particular genre and it is this wide appeal and their sense of fun that has meant the group is in constant demand and continually attracts new members. Even in its early days the Choir never quite conformed to the accepted norms of what should be included in their repertoire.
