It was founded in 1932 and belongs to major Choral tradition with a great history and universal repertoire. Glorious history of the Choir is connected with the names of the most prominent Ukrainian Choral bandleaders of ХХ-ХХІ centuries, such as G.Taranova, O.Min'kivskyi, V. Min'ko, Y.Taranchenko, G.Kulyaba, V. Mal'cev, P.Muravskyi, V.Skoromnyi. Because of high-level artistic traditions and many professional performances, Choir became a treasure of independent Ukraine. At the present time Yuliya Tkach is an artistic director and main bandleader of the Academic choir of Ukrainian radio. With members graduated from Hong Kong traditional schools like Diocesan Boys’ School, Belilios Public School, St. Paul’s Coeducation College, Ying Wa Girls’ School, St. Stephen’s Girls’ College, St. Paul’s College, Wah Yan College Kowloon, and also universities like the Hong Kong University and the Chinese University, the group was immediately invited by the HKSAR government to a celebration performance in early July 2010. The group also presented a standard professional program of sacred music in its first concert “Inspiratio” in August 2010, and a themed concert, featuring a range of masterpieces of Chinese Choral music,「聲．華」in August 2011, which won critical acclaim from local music conductors, composers and musicians.
