The ensemble is currently fo... moreVocal Ensemble GENTLEMEN Singers from Hradec Králové was established in 2003. It has become one of the most significant Czech music ensembles during its history and it is desired not only in the Czech Republic but also abroad. The ensemble is currently formed by these Singers: Jakub Kubín (countertenor), Martin Ptáček (tenor), Lukáš Merkl (tenor), Radek Mach (tenor), Aleš Malý (baritone), Martin Struna (baritone), Richard Uhlíř (bass), and Václav Kovář (bass).
The repertoire of the ensemble includes the periods from the Gregorian chant up till arrangements of modern popular melodies while the most important part is formed by the vocal compositions of the 19th and 20th century, Czech, Moravian and Slovak folk songs and contemporary compositions which were often arranged or even composed directly for the Gentlemen Singers by composers with whom the ensemble cooperates closely (e.g. Jan Vičar, Jaroslav Krček, Jan Jirásek, Stephen Hatfield, or Mark van Platen).

The choir welcomes new members at the... moreThe Gettin’ Higher Choir seeks to embrace and celebrate humanity’s Highest aspirations through music, welcoming people of all ages and cultures. We are not associated with any particular religion or spiritual path.
The choir welcomes new members at the beginning of each season in September and February. There is no audition, and no vocal experience is required, just a desire to sing in harmony with others.
Our aim is to re-integrate singing into the daily routines of life. We sing for the pure joy and pleasure it gives us, in an atmosphere that is fun, relaxed, and accepting. Our repertoire consists of both traditional and new songs from many cultures. The majority are sung a cappella (unaccompanied) in 4-part harmony.
The choir is divided into three chapters, each practicing the same material on either Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Singers are welcome to choose the night that works best for them and to come to additional nights if they wish.
