As The premiere Chorale ensemble at OSU, The OSU Chamber Choir, under The direction of Dr. Steven Zielke, has garnered national attention and international awards. While touring Eastern Europe in 2001, The choir received The Grand Prize at The Festival of Light in Bulgaria, and in April 2006, The Chamber Choir was selected as The only collegiate mixed choir from outside of The state of Utah to perform at The 60th Music Educators National Biennial Conference in Salt Lake City. The choir has performed in many exciting venues, including a performance of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony in Smetana Hall in Prague and at Strathov Monastery in Prague Castle, The first choir allowed to perform in The monastery in decades. As The introduction states, Eric Whitacre's famous "Sleep" was originally composed to Robert Frost's "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening", but when Whitacre realized The Frost estate was not releasing permission for musical settings of The poem, Charles Silvestri wrote The poem "Sleep" around The music Whitacre had written. To honor The inspiration The poem gave Mr. Whitacre, and to furTher honor all poets who inspire choral composers, we presented this beloved piece with The original Frost lyrics.  less
