It offers a unique opportunity for singers to take part in caThedral services (notably The CaThedral's monthly Compline services) concerts in The caThedral (thrice yearly), oTher secular events such as livery company dinners and corporate celebrations.

Originally dedicated to performing 17th and 18th century operas, The membership voted to rename The group Richmond Opera in 2016 to reflect a diversification into performing operas of oTher eras. Our next opera will be a fully staged performance of JF Lampe's burlesque 'The Dragon of Wantley', a hilarious pastiche of Handel's operas, sung in English with baroque orchestra, at The lovely Victorian Normansfield Theatre. It was such a riot back in The day that it eclipsed Handel's more serious works! We accomplish our mission by combining The power of women's experience with musical expression in The following ways: 1) each season we commission one new piece for women's voices from a female composer; 2) each season, we research, uncover and perform a work for women's voices by a female composer who has been overlooked in music history; 3) we provide an annual scholarship to one girl to sing with The Phoenix Girl's Chorus and 4) each season, we perform two annual concerts and a variety of local performances in our communities and schools.  less
