Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis (Book of Common Prayer version 1662) set to music for six part mixed Voices SAT-SAT) The title of this work (Canticula Ursae Minoris/Songs of The Little Bear) comes from The origin of The melodies: Many years ago I wrote a...  moreMagnificat and Nunc Dimittis (Book of Common Prayer version 1662) set to music for six part mixed Voices SAT-SAT) The title of this work (Canticula Ursae Minoris/Songs of The Little Bear) comes from The origin of The melodies: Many years ago I wrote an "Oratorio" based on Winnie The Pooh (The Expotition to The North Pole) and gave each character little melodic leitmotifs, such as "Sing ho for The life of a bear" (which becomes "to be a light to lighten The Gentiles" in The Nunc Dimittis), "They all went off to discover The pole" (which is The initial Theme of The Magnificat) and "What I say, said Eeyore, is that it's unsettling" (which becomes The "Glory be to The FaTher" section at The end of each canticle) The original and much simpler "oratorio" work, called Poohratorio of course, may be published once AA Milne goes into public domain (2031).  less

We are open to all singers with no auditions and previous experience of contemporary music is not needed. We work mainly, though not exclusively, from music, some of which is unconventionally notated. Most of our work is a capella and The focus is on ensemble singing. One objective is to expand The contemporary amateur vocal repertoire, which is less developed than The instrumental repertoire. We work with composers and students, commissioning works and showcasing material for use by oThers.  less

As The premiere Chorale ensemble at OSU, The OSU Chamber Choir, under The direction of Dr. Steven Zielke, has garnered national attention and international awards. While touring Eastern Europe in 2001, The choir received The Grand Prize at The Festival of Light in Bulgaria, and in April 2006, The Chamber Choir was selected as The only collegiate mixed choir from outside of The state of Utah to perform at The 60th Music Educators National Biennial Conference in Salt Lake City. The choir has performed in many exciting venues, including a performance of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony in Smetana Hall in Prague and at Strathov Monastery in Prague Castle, The first choir allowed to perform in The monastery in decades.
