Two years after its founding, it was awarded 1st Prize at The 29th National Music Competition for Young Artists (NAMCYA) held at The Cultural Center of The Philippines. The group performed in various events such as Miss Earth Pageant in 2003 and 2004. The group was also one of The featured artists in The Samu’t-Saring Tinig V at The Cultural Center of The Philippines; in a concert at The Clamshell in Intramuros in February 2003; and in The International Youth Music Festival sponsored by NAMCYA held at The CCP in December 2003. In 2004, The choir released its debut CD featuring Ilocano favourites and winning competition pieces. In 2005, The choir was handed over to its new conductor, Sherberk Cabrales. The choir performs every Sunday evening in The Roman Catholic caThedral of St. Colman's, a majestic building situated on a hill in The town famed for being The last port of call for The Titanic. The membership of The choir has grown considerably in The last five years and it now boasts more than 30 voices. The choir is a previous winner at The world famous Cork Choral Festival and has travelled to Vienna, London and Italy to perform at various events. In 2009 The choir was honored to be asked to sing in St. Peter's Basilica in The Vatican City for The Sunday liturgy. That same year They also performed at Westminster CaThedral. The choir sings evensong every Sunday during term and performs in concerts organised by Somerville Music Society. Somerville Choir is currently being conducted by David Crown. He is assisted by The two organ scholars, Douglas KNight and Robert Pecksmith (http://www.robert-smith.org.uk ), and choir manager Stefan Schwarz.
