On its first attempt at competitions in 2007, the group won Second Runner-Up in the prestigious PAGCOR Chorale Festival and was chosen as one of the top five winners in the Paskong Himig sa Lungsod ng PASIG Chorale Competition.
In December 2007, the Ars Cantica Ensemble was featured at the Opening Ceremonies of the Amazing European Union Christmas held at The Podium, Ortigas and was one of the Choirs invited to grace the Sing For Me Project of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
In February 2010, Ars Cantica Ensemble emerged as one of the winners in Sa ‘Yo Lamang Chorale Fest, a choral competition sponsored by ABS-CBN and Star Records. I was on the 1 train on Manhattan’s West Side one day when I saw the poem “Heaven,” by Patrick Phillips. I was immediately captured by the simple beauty of Patrick’s poem, and the mystery of the first line, “It will be the past.” I loved his vision and thought immediately that I wanted to compose music for this poem. Mystery, joy, wonder. “Heaven” is the winner of choral composition competitions sponsored by both the Manhattan Choral Ensemble and Georgia College. Located in the in the heart of Stockholm, these two churches are a renowned center for church music in Sweden. The Choir´s repertoire consists of a cappella works from a wide range of national styles and periods, as well as larger works for Choir and orchestra.
The Choir has won several of Europe´s most important competitions including the European Grand Prize for choral music. The Choir has also participated in a wide array of national and international festivals such as the Conference for Swedish Choral Conductors, the Scandinavian Symposium for Sacred Music, the Tolosa Festival in Spain, the IFCM World Symposium in Minneapolis, Sagra Musicale Umbra in Italy, Musica Sacra in Germany, Polyfollia in France, Debrecen Festival in Hungary, and De Internationale Koorbiënnale Haarlem in Holland.
