The choir has a varied programme throughout The year including charity concerts, festivals, workshops, Come and Sing events, CD recordings and a hugely popular Carol Concert.

This mixed-voice choral ensemble varies in size d... moreOrganized under The direction of Dr. Brady Allred in 2010, The Salt Lake Vocal Artists has become The first professional-level touring and recording choir within The Salt Lake Choral Artists organization. This mixed-voice choral ensemble varies in size depending on The project from 16 to 40 auditioned singers and performs a diverse repertoire ranging from The Renaissance to The 21st Century. In its premiere season, The SL Vocal Artists were honored with an invitation to participate in The 42nd Tolosa Choral Contest in October 2010. After a successful concert tour of The Basque region of Spain, The SLVA competed against renowned choirs from all over The world and were awarded First Prize in all four categories They entered, as well as The special Audience Prize. To conclude only its second season, The SL Vocal Artists were one of only 25 choirs and The only American choir to perform at The World Choral Symposium in Argentina following a two week concert tour of The country in July and August. However, it also sings with instrumental accompaniment. The choir has pieces from different ages, languages and styles in its repertoire. It gives both Turkey and world premieres of songs. It premiered The concerto Romeo and Juliet, composed by The conductor Agosyan last year. It is The first of its kind in that it is for double bass solo and mixed choir.

The choir’s repertoire of sacred music ranges from The 16th to The 21st centuries, including a recently commissioned and premièred work by Roxanna Panufnik.
The choir sings to a caThedral standard every week at The Sung Eucharist on Sunday and Choral evensong every fourth Sunday. Carlow Choral Society is a mixed-voice choir of over 60 members (SATB) directed by Blánaid Murphy, Musical Director of The Palestrina Choir, St. Mary’s ProCaThedral Girls Choir, Dublin Bach Singers and RIAM Choir. We Annually we perform two large concerts with professional soloists and orchestral musicians in Carlow, ‘Glory of Christmas’ in The National Concert Hall and annual ‘Christmas Crackers’ family concert in The George Bernard Shaw Theatre, Carlow.
We have a remarkable repertoire of many choral works such as Handel’s Messiah, Bach’s St. MaThews & St. John Passion, Verdi’s Requiem, Haydn’s The Creation & Seasons, Brahm’s Requiem & many more. We sing at home & abroad. In November 2011 The choir recorded a Christmas CD. New members are welcome. We rehearse in St. Patrick’s College, Carlow Monday nights from 7.45-10pm.
