Each Funky Voices rehearsal is taught by highly qualified and experienced Music tutors. Sandra Colston BA Hons (Musical Director) arranges the Music to suit the Choir members, and to bring the Music up to date and possible for a Choir to sing. The Sound With passions for vocal harmonies, and personal influences being likes of; Stevie Wonder, Earth Wind and Fire, Luther Vandross, Brian McKnight, Michael Jackson. The aim is to bring a similar vocal energy to Funky Voices… From Emotional rich harmonies to Feel-good dance tracks, our repertoire includes, including “Take That”, “Michael Jackson”, “Queen”, “Supertramp”, making it an exciting and enjoyable experience for everyone. The Choir's mission is to nurture Bulgarian talent and instill a love for choral art among young individuals aged 16 to 35. It honors Bulgaria's choral traditions while occasionally embracing contemporary trends in choral performance, employing techniques like body percussion and mise-en-scène to enhance their vocal craft. Founded as Pastoral - female chamber Choir in 1987, nowadays the ensemble carries the name of its originator Irina Stiglich. Тhe Choir's repertoire encompasses (or includes) works by both Bulgarian and international composers, spanning eras from the Renaissance to modern times. They've embarked on concert tours across the country and abroad participating in international choral festivals and competitions. In the World Choir Championships which was held in Graz, Austria between 10th-17th July 2011, Boğaziçi Jazz Choir became the 'WORLD CHAMPION' in Contemporary Music and Folklore categories, and got the 'second prize' in Mixed Choirs category. Also winning ...  moreIn the World Choir Championships which was held in Graz, Austria between 10th-17th July 2011, Boğaziçi Jazz Choir became the 'WORLD CHAMPION' in Contemporary Music and Folklore categories, and got the 'second prize' in Mixed Choirs category. Also winning 2 more gold medals in 'Grand Prix of Choral Music' the champions competed in, the Choir has come back to Turkey with a total of 5 gold medals. At present the Choir has 34 members. The group’s repertoire is very eclectic: from spirituals to sacred polyphony, from pop Music to regional and international folk songs. The ensemble has performed in many beautiful churches and other landmarks in Rome and in Central Italy, with concerts in the most important concert halls in the capital city and festivals in many wonderful villas and palaces scattered around the countryside near Rome. In 2007 and 2009 the Choir participated with great enthusiasm in the International Choir Festival in Val Pusteria. In the 2010 regional Choir contest at Formello the Choir came first in the pop category and second in the category for choral Music from the 20th and 21st centuries. In addition to a subscription concert series in Edmonton, the Choir performs regional concerts in surrounding Alberta centres, and runs a touring program of choral education for primary and secondary schools. Pro Coro has performed at the Toronto International Choral Festival (1994 and 2002), the 1988 Olympic Arts Festival, and Canadian Voices (2003 landmark series of concerts celebrating 50 years of professional choral singing in Canada and R. Murray Schafer’s 70th year). The Choir has commissioned dozens of new works, the majority by Canadian composers.
