Its members are young artists who regularly perform with other significant early music ensembles at home and abroad. They are the participants of several radio, television, and CD recordings. In addition we are frequently asked to sing at local events, weddings and celebrations. The Society was started in 1960, under our founder Gerald Brown, and we are still going strong. We are now led by James Gallagher, who has been working with us since 2009. We invite local young soloists and professionals to perform with us. Our repertoire ranges from 16th Century works to those of living composers and covers both major serious and popular works. Ci dedichiamo allo studio del repertorio corale sacro e profano a cappella e con strumenti ricercandone i diversi stili esecutivi . Solitamente proponiamo concerti con programmi tematici o in forma di spettacolo (la natura, l’acqua, la danza, Maria, I responsori, ecc…) per consentire al pubblico di fruire contemporaneamente della musica e Dei suoi significati evocativi, religiosi, storico-culturali, aggregativi, ecc … Fin dalla nostra fondazione abbiamo svolto un’intensa attività concertistica e culturale promuovendo una costante divulgazione della musica polifonica attraverso concerti, spettacoli, lezioni-concerto, ecc.. e diversi momenti formativi con maestri di fama internazionale. In just over 30 years, the City of Glasgow Chorus has undergone a remarkable transformation. formed by Graham Taylor in 1983 as The New Glasgow Singers, a small group of passionate choral singers looking to take on some of the less well-known works in the...  moreIn just over 30 years, the City of Glasgow Chorus has undergone a remarkable transformation. formed by Graham Taylor in 1983 as The New Glasgow Singers, a small group of passionate choral singers looking to take on some of the less well-known works in the choral repertoire, it has grown into an organisation that has around 100 members singing a wide range of musical genres but still with the core wish to seek out and perform the less familiar pieces. We perform a regular series of concerts each year: the details for the current season can be seen here. The range of music includes serious classical works, programmes of choral classics, West End musical pieces and the lighter popular music included in our annual Christmas Cracker concert. Our full repertoire can be seen in our list of past concerts. Some notable highlights have been Walton’s Belshazzar’s Feast, Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis, Berlioz’s Grande Messe des Morts and Mahler’s Eighth Symphony - the Symphony of a Thousand.  less
