This is a ...  morePride, versatility and Musical excellence best describe Newman Sound Men's choir of St. John's, Newfoundland. Named after a beautiful and rugged region in Terra Nova National Park, the choir celebrates it's 10th anniversary season in 2014-2015. This is a true community choir of more than thirty experienced singers representing the professions of Music, teaching, engineering, law, civil service, marketing, information technology and journalism. Nearly one-half of the choir's singers are students from across many disciplines of study. Newman Sound has realized an ever-growing loyal audience, a high local, national and international reputation and a very bright future having established an exciting and eclectic repertoire across the genres of classical, pop and folk including some outstanding arrangements and original compositions by several of the singers within the choir.  less

They have been auditioned and selected from a program of 250 singers and identified as the cream of the crop based on their beauty of vocal tone, Musical intelligence, sight reading ability and academic achievement. They are also instrumentalists, actors, athletes, student leaders and ambassadors of LSHS. Most importantly, they are students who are DEDICATED to being the best they can be. As a result of these high standards, Sounds of Summit has developed a reputation in Lee’s Summit and around the nation as one of the elite high School level performing ensembles. We are frequently asked to perform with UMKC’s Conservatory, as well as multiple appearances at the Missouri Music Educators Convention. We are also in high demand with community groups for performances around Christmas time. Phoenix have performed around the world, in the USA, Canada, Holland and Ireland as well as all over Britain in world renowned venues such as the Birmingham Symphony Hall, Royal Albert Hall and The Sage in Gateshead.

They are also the c...  moreThe Birralee Blokes are the winners of the 2012 International Kathaumixw "choir of the World" award and also the winners of the Youth Section in the same competition, held in Canada in July. They are also the current ABC Classic FM choir of the Year. In addition to this they were judged Youth choir of the Year and also received the Listeners' Choice Award. In 2008 they were part of the Channel 7 Battle of the choirs TV show, making it as far as the quarter finals, where they met their Waterloo with ABBA's song of the same name. Membership is drawn from state and independent secondary Schools and universities and there is a strong emphasis placed on inclusion for any young man who enjoys singing and expresses a desire to develop as a Musician. Kikimasu (grades 4-6) offers a focus on thorough and excellent Music education, with singers learning about healthy vocal production, the body-voice connection, and vibrant performance presence, as well as ant emphasis on Musical literacy, Music theory, and sightsinging skills. As with all our ensembles, Kikimasu provides a secure and accepting social environment where all singers feel their importance as members of the group.
