In the beginning, Greenwood Singers specialized in the performance of a cappella music from different stylistic periods. Its programming has now expanded to include works with soloists, instrumental ensembles and chamber orchestra. A versatile ensemble, the Choir has performed frequently with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra in a wide variety of programs which have included Mahler’s Symphony No. 8, Holst’s The Planets, family Christmas concerts, the concert version of Jerome Kern’s Showboat, Orff’s Carmina Burana (with the Alberta Ballet) and the ESO’s 1992 reunion with the British rock group, Procol Harum. Greenwood Singers has also performed with the Alberta Baroque Ensemble and has been heard on regional and national broadcasts on CBC Radio-Canada. I...    less

For security reasons, we could not take footage but everyone...  moreOn 26 of May, 2012, members of SoundRoutes Choirs from across Glasgow and Lanarkshire visited Addiewell prison for the day to record a 4 track Ep "Changing Key" with the Addiewell Prison Choir. For security reasons, we could not take footage but everyone who was present knows that the atmosphere was electric. An unlikely place to experience joy and community spirit, music brought together people from dramatically different backgrounds and gave them a common purpose. All proceeds go to Shelter Scotland.

Dozan wa A...  moreDozan wa Awtar Singers received two Gold Diplomas for its participation in the 8th World Choir Games held in Riga, Latvia this year. The Games included twenty seven thousand Singers from four hundred Choirs representing seventy three countries. Dozan wa Awtar, under the leadership of its Founder and Director Shireen Abu Khader, competed in two categories: Scenic Folklore and Mixed Choirs; singing Arabic songs in both and receiving a Gold Diploma in each category. This is the first time Jordan is represented in an international choral competition. On this occasion, Shireen Abu Khader expressed her immense pride at this accomplishment and international recognition and commended the continuous efforts of the Singers which led to this achievement. She also thanked all those who have given both financial and moral support to the Choir, as this could not have been achieved without their help.
