Commissioned by Central Bucks High School-West, premiered at the ACDA Conference 2020 (Rochester, NY) by the Central Bucks High School-West Women’s Choir.
This piece is a protest: a poignant outcry forged from silenced echoes, demanding to be heard. “Human” celebrates the mosaic of humanity—diversity in our DNA, the kaleidoscope of genders, and the unity that emerges when we embrace our differences.
Perfect for advanced women’s choirs, festivals, and programs exploring justice and identity
Lyrics: Joe Hazell & Gianni Recupero

During this time the choir has achieved success on many levels: Locally they have received 10 golden diplomas on provincial level for the “ATKV Applous” competition in the category for advanced, mixed high School choirs; and 7 golden diplomas on national level for the same competition. They were the only choir in the history of the Director’s trophy who won the award 8 times and they were also the first to do so in all three categories: mixed- (5 times), boys’- (twice) and Girls’ choir (once). They have also received double gold at the Gauteng Eisteddfod, A and A+ awards at the Pretoria Beeld Eisteddfod and first place in their category in more than one local competition. They have annual workshops and master classes with well-known and respected conductors (both locally and internationally) and have hosted many international choirs and groups. They regularly tour different parts of South Afric... less

It is made up of boys, Girls, women and men from all walks of life and with many levels of musical expertise and experience, who give of their time and talent on an entirely voluntary basis to sing to a professional standard. Membership of the choir currently stands at around thirty-five adults and sixteen to twenty children.
The choir’s principal function is to provide the music and help lead the worship at the Cathedral’s two main services every Sunday: Sung Eucharist at 10.30 am and Choral Evensong at 6.30 pm. Services are preceded by a rehearsal, and there is a rehearsal once a week, currently on Thursday evenings.
In addition to these important duties, the choir also sings for regular special services, occasional concerts, broadcasts regularly on BBC Radio, has appeared on TV, and every year they sing in one of the great British Cathedrals for a weekend, or sometimes a week.

The ensemble has been in residence at The Church of St. Ignatius of Antioch since 2003. Polyhymnia's Singers are drawn from many sources, including some of the finest church choirs in New York
Since 2000, director John Bradley has been creating original editions of music for the ensemble, some of it secreted in manuscript collections since the 16th century. Working in concert with libraries, liturgical historians and institutions, Polyhymnia hopes to both
preserve and reintroduce choral masterworks of the Renaissance and early Baroque in ways that both entertain and elucidate. In addition to the concert series, the ensemble's unique relationship with Saint Ignatius of Antioch, a forerunner in the preservation of historical liturgy, provides opportunities to perform Renaissance and Baroque music in a liturgical context, while fostering musical ... less
