The choristers looked at the formation of the choir as further development to their shared roots from singing with the Limburg Cathedral Boys Choir. They also looked to continue the tradition of successful male chamber choirs founded by former members of Limburg Cathedral Boys Choir, which is unique in Germany. The ensemble has committed itself to presenting the audience with unfamiliar male choir works of the highest level, but without neglecting the traditional canon of compositions, which makes for a exceptional combination. The repertoire includes a range of the following: Gregorian chants, works of old masters, romantic motets, contemporary compositions, arrangements of jazz and pop songs. Along side intensive voice training, drama instruction, theory and ...  moreThe Grande Prairie Boys’ Choir is celebrating its seventeenth season, providing audiences at home and away with the gift of song from the hearts of 135 boys between the ages of 7 and 20. Along side intensive voice training, drama instruction, theory and sight reading in several smaller ensembles for several age categories, the choir produces 6 sold out concerts per year. Their most recent ambitions include producing a Symphony and Singing in the City concert with professional orchestral musicians mentoring local professional and semiprofessional performers from Grande Prairie. The Senior and Men of Note Choirs have travelled Nationally to BC, and ON and internationally to Phoenix, Arizona. In 2014, they entered and won second place in the Canadian National Music Festival and in 2016 were chosen out of 45 choirs to perform at the National Choral Conference in Edmonton where they premiered a choral piece Magnificat Anima Mea to huge acceptance. By engaging in an intense study, could soon join the most important events of prestigious choralcompetitions earning statements in Arezzo and Ravenna in 1978 and 1979 and Gorizia in 1982. The polyphonic sacred and secular music certainly represents the most relevant part of the repertoire that the Polyphonic Group “Claudio Monteverdi” successfully brings to churches and theaters both in Italy and abroad. Among the repertoire, we can find 1500’s and Baroque musical compositions by Palestrina, Da Victoria, Gallus, Viadana, Hassler, Monteverdi. Among the Romantic authors, on the other hand, we can find Schubert, Schumann, Sibelius, and Rossini. Concerning modern Polyphonic music: Poulenc, Kodaly, Bardos, Pizzetti, and Orff.
