There has been a long tradition of musical excellence at St Laurence’s. The original church, built in The 1880s, had a strong Choir of men and Boys who took part in The Festival of Britain services in 1951. When The new church was opened in 1968, The musical tradition continued. A new Walker organ was installed in The church, using some pipework from The old organ and Directors of Music have included David Sanger, Professor Roger Wibberley, Paul Dewhurst, Tom Fowkes, Marcus Wibberley, Iain Simcock and andrew Ibbotson. The current Director of Music is Huw Morgan. Girls were first admitted to The Choir some ten years ago, but The Choir remains unique in this part of south-east London in that it continues to use only trebles (girls and Boys) on The top line. He came to Brazil in 1956 and spent half of his life in Salvador. He was a member of The Brazilian Academy of Music. He was master of three generations of conductors and composers in Brazil. PSALM 150 is a contemporary piece with rhythmic, harmonic and contrapuntal challenges. With its sounds of bells, trumpets, strings, flutes and timpani, describes The psalm and ends with a Hallelujah in The form of liturgical dance that grows up to The grand finale.  less

Paralia is a touristic seaside village situated on The west coast of The Thermaic Gulf and in The shadow of Olympus. The Festival has two parts: competitive and non-competitive. However, The character and The main concept of both parts is joining music, vacation, friendship and fun. The idea of The Festival is to bring The music closer to The people and to present The music on The streets and The squares of Paralia, Olympic Beach and Katerini. All Choir ensembles, regardless of The members’ gender and age can apply for participation at The Festival.  less
