In May 2014, a concert entitled: “The CWU Choirs and Friends sing songs of Singh” was presented on the CWU Campus. In that concert, 28 of Singh’s pieces were performed by 6 Choirs, including two invited guest high school Choirs. Known for compositions such as Johnny Said No, and Medieval Gloria- this concert included those accessible compositions as well as some of the more challenging pieces, like this one. As of 2014, the CWU Chamber Choir also has recorded videos of the music of Gjeilo, Byrd, Gretchaninoff, Monteverdi, Muehleisen, Victoria, and Rautavaara on YouTube. Swan. Foreward: Santiago Veros wrote Almas de Barro at the age of 19, dedicating it to a young woman who at the time was shy and with whom he rarely talked. This piece intimately describes the moments during music theory classes when the two would look at each other continuously, youthfully, and silently, as if unable to do anything else. The piece, written as a counterpoint assignment, was intended to be performed during music theory class as a declaration of love. The idea was to make a musical representation of those moments. The piece begins without words, the voices representing youthful looks. They come together and occasionally dodge each other to highlight the discomfort ...    less

In May, 2013, composer Ola Gjeilo spent 3 days on the Central Washington University Campus to join the Choir in...  more"Ubi Caritas II: Through Infinite Ages" (Ola Gjeilo) is sung by The Central Washington University Chamber Choir (Gary Weidenaar, director). In May, 2013, composer Ola Gjeilo spent 3 days on the Central Washington University Campus to join the Choir in recording 4 of his pieces. The other three were "Sanctus", "Luminous Night of the Soul", and "Vast Eternal Skies" This performance of Gjeilo's "Ubi Caritas II" is from that session, which included a rendition on which the composer later joined the Choir and improvised an accompaniment. In this video the Choir sings the piece in its published (unaccompanied) version. This was Mr. Gjeilo's second time on our campus, the first was in the spring of 2011, which resulted in 5 videos and a DVD (http://goo.gl/Xld0o) As of 2013, the CWU Chamber Choir also has recorded videos of the music of Byrd, Monteverdi, Muehleisen, Singh, Victoria, and Rautavaara on YouTube.
