the choir was established in 2005 by Bartosz Michałowski, a long-time assistant to Prof. Stefan Stuligrosz, founder of the famous "Poznan Nightingales" Boys´ and Men´s choir of the Poznan Philharmonic. Conducting experience acquired during numerous concerts with the Poznan Philharmonic and Sinfonia Varsovia orchestras played a crucial role in the establishment of the young artist's own ensemble, which soon found recognition among organizers of prominent competitions and festivals.
Winner of Grand Prix Awards at major choir competitions (2006, 2007 and 2010), the ensemble has also earned a number of special prizes... less

John Hughes (1873-1932)
Hymn
John Hughes was a Welsh Composer and deacon at Salem Welsh Baptist Chapel who wrote the well-known hymn Cwm Rhondda, the tune for which is also used in the popular English hymn Guide me, O thou great redeemer. Calon Lân is a Welsh hymn that is sung at most rugby matches involving the Welsh national team.
Nid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus,
Aur y byd na'i berlau mân:
Gofyn wyf am galon hapus,
Calon onest, calon lân.
I don't ask for a luxurious life,
the world's gold or its fine pearls,
I ask for a happy heart,
an honest heart, a pure heart.
Chorus:
Calon lân yn llawn daioni,
Tecach yw na'r lili dlos:
Dim ond calon lân all ganu
Canu'r dydd a chanu'r nos.
A pure heart full of goodness,
Is fairer than the pretty lily:

This concert was the culmination of a six-week project which creates a choir from scratch for one night only. Each winter and summer, Chris Rowbury gathers a random bunch of singers from in and around Ipswich. there are no auditions and all songs are taught and learnt by ear. Usually eight songs are learnt in six two-hour sessions and in the winter are performed at St. Peters by the Waterfront, Ipswich. http://chrisrowbury.com less
