From 1997 to the end of 2000 the Prefecture of Thessaloniki had the Choir under its auspices and supported it morally and materially. However other bodies of the city helped it as well like : The Ministry of Culture, of National Defense, of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Macedonia-Thrace, the Greek Committee of UNESCO, private educational institutions, well known businessmen active in town and Press organizations. It has also developed partnerships with communities of Greeks abroad, the International Foundation “Mikis Theodorakis” based in Stockholm, the Union of Cypriots in North Greece, the clubs of Imvrians and Asia minor, the Federation of Pontian Associations, The Labor Center of Thessaloniki, the Medical Association of Thessaloniki, the Northern Greece Association...    less

The word 'vacilando' is Spanish, and refers to taking enjoyment out of the journey rather than focusing on the destination. As such, the Choir will take a more casual approach to music-making, with fewer performances throughout the season than Òran, our young adult Choir. The group will still place an emphasis on all the things that make Kokopelli's music-making unique, however: community, multiculturalism, choral excellence, and multifaceted performances.  less

Paul Caruana in 1974 as a...  moreThe Jubilate Deo Choir is the resident Choir at the Parish church of Naxxar (Malta) and is mainly responsible to animate the liturgy of the principal feasts of the Catholic Church celebrated in this Parish. It was founded by Rev. Paul Caruana in 1974 as a girls’ Choir and sang for the first time at Christmas that same year. In the following months male voices were added and the enlarged Choir sang for the first time in the Good Friday celebrations of 1975. Eventually adult Female voices joined in, establishing an SATB Choir. The first big occasion for the Choir came in 1980, performing works by the compatriot prolific composer of sacred music Joseph Fenech (1917-2010). The Jubilate Deo Choir has since performed at the Teatru Manoel on many occasions, took part in the BBC production “Songs of Praise” that was televised worldwide and in 1990 sang during the visit to Malta of Pope John Paul II. In July 2011, they sang in Ottawa at the Unisong festival for Canada Day, and in July 2013 the group was featured at the presitigious and exciting international Festival 500 in St. John’s, Newfoundland.
