It does not meet on a regular basis, but comes togeTher for short, intensive work periods, culminating in performances, or “projects.” The majority of its Musicians are recruited from The metropolitan Washington, DC and Baltimore areas, but some come from as far away as New York, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. We offer high-quality performances of significant choral, and choral-orchestral music, concentrating especially, but not exclusively, on The music of Johann Sebastian Bach. We supplement our gifts to The community with unique experiences, such as our “Conversation Concerts.” We also offer advanced training opportunities in our specialized choral and choral-orchestral repertoire for young conductors and singers, through our workshops and performances.  less

The members of The choir are professional Musicians. Until now, The choir took part in The projects of The National Theater and The Opera House of Bitola (Heraclea and Likini and Fiddler on The roof); choir seminar in Solun (Greece);many whole concerts and participation in humanitarian conserts. On our programme are represented all type of choir music, accapela and music with instruments.

The idea is that we go on an imginary Singing Safari collecting exotic songs from around The world. The Singing Safari began at The Warwick Folk Festival in 2006, and continued in 2011 when Chris moved to Suffolk. The winter safari ends in a shared concert in Ipswich, and The summer safari is a free half hour performance outdoors. Each safari learns about eight songs in 3- and 4-part harmony.  less

With a membership of 65-70 Musicians from throughout The campus, this ensemble is quickly becoming recognized for its musical excellence. Recent concerts have included Johann Sebastian Bach’s Lobet den Herrn, alle Heiden, Samuel Barber’s Reincarnations and Benjamin Britten’s Rejoice in The Lamb. Strong sight-reading skills and Musicianship are important to membership. This ensemble is directed by Dr. Jonathan Babcock, associate director of choral activities. Texas State University Singers rehearses Mondays from 5:00–6:30 PM (M222) and Tuesdays/Thursdays 2:00-3:20 PM (M222)  less
