The University Singers have performed throughout the world, and have sung with a variety of professional orchestras including the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, the Pacific Symphony Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra and the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra under the batons of conductors such as Carl St.Clair, John Mauceri, John Williams, and Keith Lockhart. Internationally acclaimed for their exquisite musicianship, they have been invited to perform at conferences organized by the American Choral Directors Association and the Music Educators National Conference. The choir, which began at Brigham Young University as an early music ensemble, transformed into one of the premier non-Collegiate chamber groups in the Western United States. This award-winning ensemble achieves high performance standards by drawing on the rich musical heritage of the region. Many Cantorum singers have solo careers and all have sung with top Collegiate ensembles. A number have also sung as members of The Mormon Tabernacle Choir, Utah Chamber Artists, and Salt Lake Vocal Artists. In addition, Cantorum is proud to have a high representation of talented choral educators. The group won both of its categories at the 2016 Interkultur competition and received special commendation for their performance of Dale Warland and Hugo Distler.
