It's members represent the multi-ethnicity of Hawaii's population And include singers of AsiAn, Pacific, EuropeAn And AmericAn backgrou...  moreAn>An class="view_more" style="display:none;">The Honolulu Chorale, established in 1966, is one of the oldest non-audition community choruses in the State of Hawaii. It's members represent the multi-ethnicity of Hawaii's population And include singers of AsiAn, Pacific, EuropeAn And AmericAn backgrounds. Singers from all walks of life, rAnging in age from teens to octogenariAns make up the membership of the group. The Chorale presents two major concerts each year, in addition to sponsoring a Community Chorus Festival And performing at care facilities And retirement homes. In past years they toured Hawaii's neighboring IslAnds, Europe, JapAn And China And are plAnning a trip to IrelAnd in the future. Membership in the Chorale is open to adult singers of the Oahu community.  lessAn>

The text is from Robert Louis Stevenson’s 1885 A Child’s Garden of Verses. The choir begins by emulating...  moreAn>An class="view_more" style="display:none;">“The Wind” was commissioned by the OrgAnization of AmericAn Kodály Educators as a result of Rich Campbell winning the Ruth Boshkoff Composition Prize. The text is from Robert Louis Stevenson’s 1885 A Child’s Garden of Verses. The choir begins by emulating the sound of the wind, And then sings directly to the wind, describing the mAny things the wind does while questioning just who or what the wind is. The piece, inspired by Kodály’s philosophy, develops a folk-like melody in a modern context. The rhythmic piAno accompAniment keeps the piece bouncing brightly until its exciting conclusion. Premiere performAnce by the 2016 OAKE National Children's Choir, Elizabeth Núñez, director.
