To help celebrate this important milestone, Nashville Singers hosted a special "meet & greet" event honoring the Suntones in Nashville on May 12, 2011. The concert closed with a performance by The Suntones and the Nashville Singers singing Gene Cokeroft's stirring arrangement of Danny Boy, with solos by Gene and son Bruce. Under the Leadership of Founder and Choirmaster Ron Oñate, they brought home 2 silver diplomas for the Folk and Sacred Music Categories from the said competition, establishing their mark on the international choir scene. Chamz, as they are popularly known, has continually rendered their voices for various Television shows, Music Festivals, Product endorsements, corporate events, charity concerts and outreach activities. They wanted to show how two seemingly different cultures can fuse together to produce something great. This vision has grown into Chai-Town A Cappella. Last year we performed at the a cappella competition Anahat, in Berkeley, CA, as a guest act at the dance competition Naach Nation, in New York, NY, and across the Midwest. As 2012 approaches, our group will be reaching its 10th anniversary and putting out our THIRD studio album! Chai-Town is a completely student-run, non-profit group of 16 members, each of whom has a passion for music. Together these w...  moreIn English- Chamber Choir Cantinovum (established in 1989) is the youthful and ambitious choir of the Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences (JAMK) directed by Rita Varonen. Their name originates from the Latin words canti and novum. Together these words become the identity of the choir and mean 'new song'. At present, there are approximately 30 Singers in the choir for whom music is a passionate interest – for many it is also a future profession. Many of the Singers, either study or work at the Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences or the University of Jyväskylä. The repertoire of Cantinovum is colorful and varied. It spans from folk music to sacred music and from Renaissance to modern composers. It is very characteristic of Cantinovum to perform songs that have been specially composed for them. They have had the honour of premiering more than a dozen compositions both nationally and internationally.
