Very much (but not exclusively) in the barbershop stlye. Even though we have only been going a few months, our numbers have been increasing weekly as more and more people are seduced by the magical sound of ringing chords. We aim to be a serious performing Chorus in due course. We have had a very successful 2012 and hope for even better in 2013 where we have a whole host of exciting things planned. Stay tuned! We'd very much be interested in meeting/collaborating with other choirs in our area. We are on Facebook so have a little look and maybe come and sing a few baas with us!  less

Transcending mere language, live choral performance allows audiences to experience the beauty, complexity and distinctiveness of living cultural heritage. At the same time, it serves as a reflection of positive cultural encounters and exchange, in which diverse traditions and languages communicate through art and come together through song.  less

South Devon Choir is a large, non-audition, mixed voice choir. We rehearse on Thursday nights at St Pauls Church Hall, Locarno Road (off Torquay Road), Preston, Paignton starting at 7.30pm until 9.30pm. We rehearse on Thursday nights at St Pauls Church Hall, Locarno Road (off Torquay Road), Preston, Paignton starting at 7.30pm until 9.30pm. Over the years the Choir has sung with many leading amateur and professional orchestras including the Royal Philharmonic and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestras, the Bristol Symphony, the Bands of HM Grenadier Guards, Household Cavalry and Royal Marine Commandos, Lympstone. Nearly all the historical oratorios, cantatas and choral works have been performed at concerts as well as 20th century compositions. The Choir has visited France four times including the Quimper Music Festival, has hosted choirs from Holland, France and the USA and created links with societies in Cornwall, Devon, Gloucestershire and North Yorkshire. The Choir has actively encouraged local school choirs to participate in works which include parts written specially for young people.  less
