The members of The Ensemble are all amateurs and have The same ideal that Their performance can touch The Heart of every audience through Their well-trained voices. Their repertoires include folk songs, classical songs, musical pieces, pops, and premiere works by renowned composers. In March 2011, Plaisir Ensembe achieved a great success in The “1st Vietnam International Choir Festival and Competition” organized by The INTERKULTUR. They won The Gold Diploma, The Category Winner as well as The Overall Winner of Chamber Choirs. The Ensemble is one of The Top 50 Female Choirs in The Musica Mundi World Ranking List.  less

Under The direction of artistic director John William Trotter, The group spans a repertoire from Gregorian chant to The Beatles and beyond and is known for its performances of sacred works, vocal jazz and pop, folk and international music, as well as a special focus on music written in The present generation. Since its founding in 1993, The ensemble has introduced dozens of works to Chicago audiences for The first time, including commissioned works by Chen Yi, Stacy Garrop, and Tania León. Water Ruminations is a setting of six poems by The thirteenth-century poet Rumi, in English translations from The Persian by Coleman Barks, for double Choir and organ. The poetry sings of literal and spiritual connections between water and sky, a drop of water and human life, flowing water and love, drinking water and its container, The giddiness of spring and rolling seas, and The ocean's gifts and singing. Its images, from 800 years ago, speak to us with both vivid immediacy and transcendence.
