Ira Spaulding, born in New York, studied with Robert Simpson at Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey (Bachelor of Music) and also holds a Master of Music in Voice and Choral Conducting from Eastern Kentucky University. He gave numerous recitals in America as well as having taught voice, conducting, vocal pedagogy and literature at several colleges and conducted various vocal ensembles (community oratorio Choirs, church Choirs, boys Choirs and a jazz vocal ensemble). He currently serves on the faculty at City College of New York where he teaches voice, conducting and leads vocal ensembles and Choirs.  less

The Choir performs concerts each semester and also sings at Remembrance Day ceremonies, convocation ceremonies, and other events on campus and in the community. We are a volunteer, non-auditioned group open to all, but Choir members are expected to regularly attend rehearsals and the semester retreat, and to practice their pArts on their own time. We usually put up practice files under “Resources” (members-only access) so that you can download your part and listen to it on whatever portable music-playing device you own. No musical experience is needed, but the ability to read music is an asset (if you can't read music, we'll help you learn).  less

Since the beginning of 2003 the Choir's artistic director is Luka Vukšić. The director's assistant is Veton Marevci. The Choir's performances have been conducted by Croatia's and world's most eminent musicians, such as Lovro von Matačić, Milan Horvat, Zubin Mehta, Sir Yehudi Menuhin, Krzysztof Penderecki, Lorin Maazel, Ennio Morricone, Noam Sheriff, Gerd Albrecht, Kazushi Ono, Alun Francis, Hans Graf, Kurt Masur, Dmitrij Kitajenko, Valerij Gergijev, and Sir Neville Marriner.
