The Choir has been a finalist in both The CBC choral competition for amateur Choirs and The International Choral Kathaumixw in Powell River, British Columbia, and participated in The non-competitive Festival 500 in St. John’s, Newfoundland. It has also been The guest Choir at Saskatchewan Sings, and sang at The installation of Lynda Haverstock (a former member) as Lieutenant-Governor of Saskatchewan. In 2010, The Choir performed at Podium, The biennial conference of The Association of Canadian Choral Communities, held in Saskatoon. The mission of The DaCapo Chamber Choir is to identify, study, rehearse, and present in public performance and recordings, The outstanding choral Chamber works of The past 100 years and to champion music of Canadian and local composers. Our performance season consists of three annual concerts in Kitchener-Waterloo: once in The fall around Remembrance Day, a mid-winter, and a spring concert. Directed for more than ten years by Michael Bawtree, its repertoire spans The Renaissance to The present day and has included The Scottish premieres of works by James Whitbourn, Hans Gál, Jan Dismas Zelenka, Richard Bush and Judith Bingham. The Choir performs regularly in Glasgow and central Scotland, and has toured to France, Holland and Sweden, where it has formed links with oTher Choirs.
