Our diverse vocal programme is for 14-18 year olds who love to sing, are keen to develop their choral technique, improve their ensemble singing and explore a diverse range of vocal styles. We sing a challenging and exciting repertoire encompassing many genres, and ensure that students gain a deep understanding of these musical styles through the guidance of sectional tutors and voice specialists.  less

The Devonshires’ defense took place in a violent thunderstorm, when rain and hail fell in sheets to impede visibility. The line ‘Fetter and Faint for England’s neck, Faggot and Father, Saint and chain’ graphically talks about what would have happened if the faggot (a bundle of sticks) had burned the English because the Spanish thought of them as heretics. With a great sense of fun and a unique style of entertainment, the chorus has gripped audiences during its history of 34 years. Our close knit membership of nearly sixty guys has a strong commitment to vocal and performance excellence. Cottontown particularly enjoy competing in both national and international barbershop competitions. Well respected stages around the UK including the London Palladium have given us the opportunity to wow audiences with stirring harmonies, emotional lyrics, exciting choreography and visual effects. In competition, the Bolton based group has succeeded in winning the much sought after Gold Medal at the British Association of Barbershop Singers (BABS) convention four times in the last six years and represented the UK twice at the Barbershop Harmony Society (BHS) International Convention held in the USA.
