A version for 3 part mixed Choir (Soprano, Alto and Men) and organ is also available at:

Because of its gently exotic modal flavours, the music was deemed to have a ring of "oriental promise" by one appreciative member of the congregation at the first performance.
This setting has been sung in Cathedrals in Manchester, Southwell and Dublin and the Agnus has also featured in services at Christ Church Didsbury.
The recording here is the Agnus Dei sung by the Voluntary Choir of Manchester Cathedral during their visit to Southwell Minster. less

IN THE DARK includes James MacMillan's stunning Miserere and specially commissioned works by Richard Bates, Platinum's composer in residence. These contemporary works are juxtaposed -- yet inextricably linked -- with choral music by Lassus, Victoria, Purcell and Lotti. The title work, Bates' In The Dark, encapsulates the poignancy of Holy Week, with a new setting of the Tudor poem 'You that have spent the silent night' by George Gascoigne (1525-1577).

Lifted by one hundred voices accompanied by professional soloists and orchestras, Paris Choral Society programs draw on celebrated requiems, masses and other pieces by Mozart, Handel, Boulanger, Verdi, Haydn, Hildegard von Bingen, Bach, Fauré and Mendelssohn, to name a few.
We also perform the finest in modern choral works by Benjamin Britten, Nathaniel Dett, Maurice Duruflé, Elaine Hagenberg, Kim Porter, Carl Rütti and others with occasional forays into American hymns and spirituals and operatic favorites.
The chorale is unique in Paris, too, for its membership, which the New York Times once described as “unpaid but professional-level.” Its singers are French- and English-speaking, of all ages and backgrounds, and competition at auditions can be lively. All are committed to a spirit of musical excellence. less
